In 1958, National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) was established. There are 12 colleges at NCTU where more than 14,000 students are studying. Among research-oriented universities in Taiwan, National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) is one of the top universities and ranks at 208 in the world.

NCTU Taiwan Scholarships Benefits

Undergraduate Scholarship

Tuition waiver.
Monthly stipend, up to NT$21,000 (US$700).

Master’s Scholarship

Tuition waiver.
Monthly stipend, up to NT$22,000 (US$733)
The assistantship will be offered by research advisors to the students.

Doctoral Scholarship

Tuition waiver.
Monthly stipend, up to NT$29,000 (US$966)
The assistantship will be offered by research advisors to the students.

Eligibility Criteria of NCTU International Scholarship 2021

International students can apply.
A candidate should be medically fit.
A candidate should not be an awardee of any other scholarship.
A candidate should fill out the application with the correct information.
An applicant applying for the bachelor’s program should have high school transcripts.
An applicant applying for the master’s program should have bachelor’s transcripts.
An applicant applying for the Ph.D. program should have a master’s transcripts.

General Information

NCTU International Scholarships are available to outstanding degree-seeking international students
with excellent academic and research records. Selected students may be awarded monthly stipend
and/or exemption from tuition fees.
A. Amount:
(1) Undergraduate students: up to NT$21,000 (US$700) per month and/or tuition waiver.
(2) Master’s students: up to NT$22,000 (US$733) per month and/or tuition waiver.
(3) Doctoral students: up to NT$29,000 (US$966) per month and/or tuition waiver.
B. Duration: Up to 1 year
C. Renewal: At the end of the first award year, students may apply for NCTU International Scholarships
for outstanding current students. Award includes monthly stipends (up to NT$21,000
(US$700)/22,000(US$733)/29,000(US$966) for undergraduate/master’s/doctoral students) and/or
tuition waiver. The scholarships for current students are awarded for a 1 academic year period in
principle and may be reapplied and reviewed regularly based on applicants’ academic performance and
research records and subject to a maximum number of years.

Application Period
For new students, the application is open during the following intake (admission application period):
Fall Intake:
December 20 – March 5
Spring Intake:
August 10 – September 30

Application Instructions

A candidate should fulfill the eligibility criteria.
A candidate should apply to an institute that accepts admissions for international students.
A candidate should fill out the application online, upload, and submit the documents.
A candidate should make sure whether other additional documents are required or not to the institute.
Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

The application deadline for the National Chiao Tung University scholarships 2021 is September 30, 2020.
